Originally designed to overcome issues with irrigation solenoid valves in hot climates the Latchold is a complete compact modular solution that allows small loads at voltages up to 24vdc to be activated at full power for three seconds before pulse width modulating the output at a pre-configured ratio to achieve optimum holding. The module automatically changing the full power on to a pre-selected holding range between 20% and 90% after approximately 3100ms. High speed switching waveforms and low switch resistance ensure efficient switching. The device has a pre-programmed delay of approximately 100mS settling time before the load sink becomes activate. The primary use of this unique controller is to allow electromagnetic devices such as solenoids to operate more efficiently by maintaining only the required power to effect a hold condition after latching, keeping heat build-up and excessive power consumption to a minimum. It is also often used where thermal inertia needs to be overcome, for instance in fluid heater chambers or fluid injectors which require heat to begin circulation.
